Né en France à Menthon-St-Bernard, Patrice Montagnon, chorégraphe indépendant, commença ses études de musique et de danse au Conservatoire de Musique de Genève. Il termina sa formation comme danseur professionnel avec Beatriz Consuelo, danseuse étoile du prestigieux Ballet du Marquis de Cuevas et du Grand-Théatre de Genève.

Après avoir été engagé comme danseur au Grand-Théatre de Genève, John Cranko, chorégraphe et directeur de prestige international, lui offre un contrat comme danseur à l´Opéra National de Munich pour deux ans puis l´engage dans son propre prestigieux " Stuttgart Ballet".

C´est sous la direction de Glen Tetley et de Marcia Haydée que Patrice Montagnon en 1976 fit ses débuts en tant que chorégraphe. Il créa plusieurs ballets pour le "Stuttgart Ballet", l´Opéra de Francfort, l´Opéra de Berlin, le Netherland Dance Theatre, le Ballet Classique de Madrid et de Zaragoza.

Son ballet les "Kreisleriana" sur la musique de Robert Schumann a été choisi comme le meilleur ballet de l´année 1983 en Allemagne par le "Internationaler Tanz Theater".

Born in Menthon-St-Bernard in France, the freelance choreographer Patrice Montagnon began his music and ballet studies at the Conservatory of Music of Geneva. He ended his formation as a professional dancer with Beatriz Consuelo, star of the Ballet of the "Marquis de Cuevas" and of the "Grand-Théatre" of Geneva.

He joined between 1967 and 1969 the Ballet du Grand-Théatre of Geneva, then John Cranko, famous choreographer and director of international prestige, offers him a contract as a dancer at the Opera National of Munich for two years and then hold him in his own prestigious Stuttgart Ballet in 1972.

It is under the direction of Glen Tetley and then Marcia Haydée that Patrice Montagnon in 1976 started his activity in the field of choreography and created several ballets for the Stuttgart Ballet, the Netherland Dance Theatre, the Opera of Frankfurt, the Opera of Berlin, the Ballet National Classic of Madrid and Zaragoza.

Patrice Montagnon´s ballet "Kreisleriana" on the music of Robert Schumann has been elected the ballet of the year 1983, in Germany, by the "Internationaler Tanz Theater".
